The international developer conference devcom celebrated its successful premiere in 2017. In 2018, organizer CMG Conferences, the event department of the Computec Media Group (CMG), will make some optimizations to further improve devcom. The most important change this year: The conference will now run for two days and therefore does not overlap with the business area of gamescom. devcom takes place on August 19 and 20.

The conference program will be streamlined to avoid overlaps with gamescom and to give all devcom visitors the opportunity for additional networking. In addition, the devcom Business Area will be expanded. Thanks to MeetToMatch, visitors can easily organize business meetings. Also, the devcom Indie Area where independent studios can present their projects to a broad expert audience, offers more space. The goal of the organizers is to offer a well thought-out conference experience that fits in even better with the gamescom week.

devcom includes talks, summits and workshops. The high-class speaker line-up currently includes industry veterans such as

  • Peter Molyneux (keynote)
  • Cory Barlog (keynote)
  • Jason Vandenberghe (keynote)
  • Ethan Evans (keynote)
  • Siobhan Reddy
  • Richard Garriott
  • Kate Edwards
  • Garry Schyman (workshop, together with Helge Borgarts)

Last but not least, there will be four “gamescom public keynotes” held during gamescom. These are lectures by well-known personalities of the games and media industry, which are designed for private visitors. The public keynotes will take place from August 22 – 24, 2018.

Call for Papers: Until June 15th, game developers can submit their speech proposals on the main subjects Artificial Intelligence and Fun in Games as well as on classic topics such as Game Design, Business, Production, Legal, Sound, Art Design and Management. https://www.devcom.global/call-for-papers-is-open-now/
